Nassau Straw Market

If something a little unusual and authentic whets your appetite, then you should visit the Nassau Straw Market. Here is one of the Bahama’s oldest industries on display. You can also take a look at some of the other hand-crafts on display, such as wood carvings and conch shell jewelry. The Pink Sands of Harbour Island

If you are interested in natural wonders, you have to see the pink sands. The stunning color of the Harbor Island beach comes from thousands of broken and pumiced pieces of coral, shells, and other calcium carbonate life forms that lived in this area over the millions of years of its existence. When you relax on this beach, you will feel at one with nature, and you can begin to soak in the majesty of its past.

Blue Lagoon Island

This popular attraction is also known by its official name Salt Cay. It is located only 5 kilometers from the capital Nassau, so it’s easy to visit on a one-day excursion if you are staying at or near the capital. The Blue Lagoon Island is rather secluded and generally regarded as the real Bahamas due to its abundance of natural attractions. You can go on a variety of tours, and if you like witnessing dolphins, sea lions, and stingrays in their natural habitat, this is the place to come. You even have the opportunity to swim with these gentle and elegant animals, if you so wish. Land lovers can go bird spotting, as there are plenty of rare tropical birds here to enjoy. The island is also home to some hundred native coconut trees. It also boasts a coral reef. If you want to see something authentic, then this is the place to come.

Fort Fincastle

Built in around 1793 out of cut limestone, Fort Fincastle is strategically placed on top of Bennetts Hill overlooking the city of Nassau. It was constructed by Lord Dunmore, who was the Royal Governor at the time, and he felt that the historic city of Nassau needed a little protection. To access the Fort, you need to climb the Queen’s staircase, which is a mini adventure all of its own. It will remind you of Lord of the Rings, though perhaps nowhere near that dangerous, with its 65 steps. Once up at the Fort, you will be able to enjoy the features such as high brick walls, and cannons and don’t forget the breathtaking views over the water and the city.

There is just such an abundance of sights, adventures, and relaxation spots available! Let’s face it, The Bahamas is the perfect location for anyone who loves a beach holiday, as well as for those of you into adventure, especially diving and boating.

Just a little side note, for those of you interested, here are a few of the many other places to visit: Andros Island with its fantastic diving and fishing opportunities, then you have the Lucayan National Park, Greek Turtle Cay, and the Garden of the Groves, etc, etc. Let’s face it, after you have visited the sun-baked, crystal clear waters of The Bahamas, you will not want to leave. You will want to come back time and time again to do more exploring and relaxing in these paradise islands.

So, as coming back is clearly something you will want to do after your adventure to The Bahamas, why not think about purchasing a piece of prime real estate? You will be inundated with homes offering stunning coastal views, lush gardens, and all located in the midst of stunning scenery. Some are even on private islands! What could be better than that? If this is an avenue for you, but you don’t intend to be there all the time, you can make financial use of the property when you are not there by renting it out.
