This beautiful property was constructed on a pristine site covered with palmetto palms, which the owners took great care to conserve in order to preserve the topsoil and provide protection from any ocean surge on the 200 beachfront. The house was sited on the highest part of the property, 23 above sea level and 400 from the beach and raised on stilts to provide a view of Winding Bay over these palms. By the beach, shade is provided by a cabana with groves of coconut palms at each side of the property. Designed by an engineer with help from architect friends to be extremely strong yet light, this home has a remarkable, innovative shape because of its hyperbolic parabolic roof design. This creates the cathedral ceiling effect in the living room and the wow factor experienced by all visitors. The distinctive roof, consisting of four sections of hyperbolic parabolas, overhangs the walls by 3 to provide passive cooling of the walls giving an under-roof square footage of 2,118 sq ft. The roof is filled with linseed foam for insulation and lined with cypress planking.
