Want to stay cool this summer, but don’t want to face the high electricity bills that come along with it? Try a few of these tips to keep it cool and save on energy costs.

Block The Sun
Sunlight turns into heat, You can keep your house cool by keeping the sunlight out.
Apply tint to windows: Install a reflective or dark tint to your east and west facing windows.
Install shutters: Interior and exterior shutters do more than just protecting your windows from bad weather. Interior shutters can be really convenient for keeping the heat out and plantation shutters also can add a nice touch to your interior design.
Close the curtains/blinds: Close the drapes during the hottest part of the day.
Open The Windows
Be sure to open your windows when the outside temperature is cooler than the indoor temperature. Cool air helps to lower the temperature of your floors, walls and furniture.
Create cross-ventilation: Open windows on opposite sides of the house, good ventilation will bring the temperature down.
Turn On The Fans
Ceiling fans: Ceiling fans will push air down and create a cooling effect. Make sure you turn the fans off when not in use, fan motors create heat.
Portable fans: Place fans near open windows to help move cool air through the room.
Turn Off Appliances
Turn off all appliances when they are not in use. Try not to use heat generating appliances during the hottest part of the day.
Seal The Gaps
Having a tight seal around doors and windows are important. This prevent cool air from leaking out and hot air from getting in.
